Dr. Karen Choi serves as the Operations Manager at Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery of Carbondale, where she oversees both the clinical and administrative teams. In her role as Professional Relations Director, she is dedicated to fostering strong communication and collaboration with referring providers, ensuring seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
Dr. Choi earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Following her dental education, she completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry, gaining extensive experience in dental implant placement and restoration. Before relocating to Southern Illinois in 2020, Dr. Choi practiced general dentistry in Western New York for six years, where she developed a comprehensive understanding of patient needs and treatment complexities.
Her diverse clinical background empowers her to bridge the gap between general dentistry and oral surgery. Dr. Choi understands the nuances of patient care and the importance of clear, timely communication with referring providers. By leveraging her extensive knowledge and firsthand experience, she serves as a valuable resource for colleagues navigating intricate cases.
Dr. Choi is passionate about improving patient outcomes and enhancing collaborative efforts in the dental community. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development enables her to stay at the forefront of advancements in oral and maxillofacial surgery, ultimately benefiting both patients and referring providers alike.
Artemis provides affection and comfort to people in our office setting. She can help calm patients and may reduce anxiety. Patients have felt more ease with the presence of our four-legged team member.
Artemis is a Maltese and this breed is small and hypoallergenic. Maltese’s are gentle, playful, and charming.
In the company of an Emotional Support Dog, our team members also experience a happy, less stressful environment. This allows an increase in focus and productivity so we can provide the highest level of patient care.
